                                                             MIJA: Biography:

Born and raised in a musician family from Gothenburg in Sweden, her father was a well-reputed musician in a famous Swedish band between the sixties and eighties. She started in school-choir when she was 14 years old, and began to take song lessons for a song coach for several years. At this time she also started her first pop-rock band with her own music. They played together for 2 years and had a lot of gigs during that time. At the same time she joined an established gospel-choir for ten years and during this time they performed approx twice a month in which MIJA often was the song soloist. They also made an album, and did a couple of performances in local-TV.

She joined another funk-rock band named L.C. BAND, with professional studio musicians. In this band she stayed for two years before they dissolved and they released two singles and they were doin gigs from time to time in Sweden. At the age of 22 she went to study a musical program at a folk high school for 2 years. She began to take classical vocal lessons and was a member of the vocal ensemble on the school.The ensemble gave performances in classical, musicals and folk music. After finishing this education she applied for and was accepted to University for music in Gothenburg. But turned it down and began to work as music teacher for six years on and off and during that time she also  supported her self as a singer in a song duo (jazz, folk music and blues). She was also hired as café singer at two different café/restaurants for three years, part time. She was also singing in different cover bands (rock, hard rock, pop, blues, etc). MIJA has supported her self as a fulltime singer between 1992-95. During this time she sang in 2 cover bands, 1 jazz-quartet, in her song duo, as a studio singer, participated in two musicals and as a background singer for other artists. Between 1996-1998 MIJA was working as a song teacher part time and also kept on singing in cover bands and made performances during the weekends at clubs, corporate parties etc.

1998 she got a roll in a bigger production of the musical “Jesus Christ Superstar” in corporation with Baltic Republic. She played Maria Magdalena. Under these years that MIJA was singing in different bands. Following year she became a singer in a cover band called LAZY BABES in which Magnus Rosén from HAMMERFALL also played. She sang with them for almost 2 years. Later she started a band called DOUBLE DIVIDE (pop and rock) with studio musicians and musicians from the rock and pop elite from Sweden and did approx. 25 gigs together. 2002 she was starting up with a new hard rock cover band, ROBBERBAND, with members from LOST HORIZON, NOSTRADAMEUS etc. And they are still doing gigs during the weekends at clubs, parties etc.

The latest project is the co-operation between MIJA and Benny Jansson from TEARS OF ANGER, XSAVIOR and Björn Jansson from TEARS OF ANGER and BEYOND TWILIGHT. MIJA, Benny and Björn found each other musically as soul mates and began to write songs together. They are planning to release this album 2007. Two songs are recorded, and at the moment they are working with new songs to complete this album. They are negotiating with different major labels that have shown interest. On their album they will use musicians from TEARS OF ANGER and they will also have guest musicians from different well known metal acts as, for example, FREAK KITCHEN, LAST TRIBE, MASTERPLAN, STARFALL, HAMMERFALL, DIMENSION ZERO, LOST HORIZON etc. And more to come.

MIJA - The new powerful voice from Sweden! (Song clips)

Who of you can still remember the Canadian singer DALBELLO whose song "Gonna Get Close To You" was even covered by QUEENSRYCHE!? Here is a chance for all you admirers of outstanding vocals who long for a similar-sounding feast for their ears, and I promise it will send shivers of relish up and down your spine: MIJA! The black-haired power-woman MIJA has composed these and further songs together with the Swedish exceptional guitarist Benny Jansson who is normally straining the strings for the bands TEARS OF ANGER and XSAVIOR (with Göran Edman on vocals), and who has also been working with and is still cooperating with the famous musicians Jens and Anders Johansson from HAMMERFALL and STRATOVARIUS . Another artist in this league so far is Björn Jansson, lead singer in the bands TEARS OF ANGER and BEYOND TWILIGHT. He is responsible for the backing vocals in parts of some songs and he is also contributing to the songwriting.
